Welcome to Art+, BowHaven’s weekly art group. We meet every Thursday between 1.15pm – 5.15pm. All BowHaven members are welcome to join us, and we have an Art Project Worker who assists the group, and is an experienced artist himself.
Even if you have no experience with art, come along and discover your creative side. From drawing to painting, collage to sculpture, we will help you discover a new way of expressing yourself, in your own time and in your own way.
Art+ has been running for 3 years and is a very popular group. We try to create a warm and friendly environment and give you gentle encouragement at every stage.
Many new members start with some simple colouring in but as their confidence grows, and if they choose, they often progress to painting their own ideas on canvas, learning new skills and making friends along the way.
There is no right or wrong way to approach Art and creativity, it is a form of self-expression and is very beneficial to our sense of well-being, helping us to relax and unwind, or express things that are often hard to sum up in words.
If you feel like you don’t know where to begin, don’t worry, just come along and our friendly staff and members will make you feel welcome and get you started.
An essential part of the Art+ ethos is that we treat the work our members produce with respect, celebrating your creativity and achievement.
We have a gallery wall and regularly hold exhibitions of members work and encourage members to share their art with friends and family.
To help show our recognition of achievement, we hold an annual award ceremony where every member is awarded a certificate and gift based on their individual achievement throughout the year. No member is overlooked, whether they are new or have been coming for a long time.
This December we will be going on our first Art+ day out, visiting the Tate Britain gallery in Pimlico.
If you’d like to join Art+, or would like to find out more, talk to a member of staff or come and join us on Thursday between 1.15pm – 5.15pm.Report incorrect information
