Rabia’s Story

Rabia, initially, with great hesitation agreed to participate on I Can initiative  with The Silver Line Project.  The Silver Line Project in partnership with Poplar Harca have been working with local residents who are undertaking a programme of intensive physical activity and mentoring, with the support of dedicated and qualified personal trainers/mentors and counsellors. The programme is more than just about exercise; it is also about meeting people and having fun!

‘I would highly recommend the fitness and wellbeing programme; in fact I’ve already started recommending it to others.

The initial 3 sessions  allowed me to meet others, some of whom had experienced great difficulties within their own lives, some who were still facing challenging situations, but the one thing that we all had in common was that we were all there to better ourselves and our lives.

To me what was brought to light was that we needn’t limit ourselves or our pursuits, that anything is possible, the attainment of my dream is actually possible with the right mindset and right support. I realised this when I heard of Moses’ story. The difficulties that he faced have only made him stronger, more resilient and go on to become the winner of SAS: Who Dares Wins. He dared and he won and to now go on to help others through the trials and tribulations of life is amazing.

This may sound like fan mail, but in only 3 sessions I have been given something I’d lacked, something I desperately needed at this particular time in my life: hope.’
